Kamala Picked the Right White?
It’s been just over a week since Kamala Harris revealed her running mate for 2024: Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Once considered a long shot by many political pundits, Walz has recently surged to the forefront, and thank God that it did!
I’ve often said that Harris’s nomination gave me hope, but I was concerned that the Democratic Party needed to prove it was truly listening to its constituents. While they still have work to do, Walz’s selection is a strong indication that they are.
Harris, being politically malleable, had me worried about her choice for running mate. Just days before the announcement, it seemed like the media and political elites were almost orchestrating a push for Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as the ideal pick. They argued Shapiro’s strategic value in securing Pennsylvania for the Democrats, but overlooked the potential risks. Thankfully, Harris’s team chose Walz—a decision that signifies a genuine commitment to winning.
If you’re still skeptical about Walz and the ticket’s chances, just look at the electrifying energy of their first rally together. Not convinced yet? Look at Walz’s impressive record and dynamic personality.
Who is Tim Walz?
Walz is more than just a seasoned politician. He’s a veteran, former teacher, state championship-winning football coach, and the highest-ranking retired enlisted soldier ever to serve in Congress. His credentials are just scratching the surface of who he is.
Walz has been pivotal in steering Minnesota to the left with significant achievements. He championed free breakfast and lunch for all students, expanded affordable state health insurance, cut taxes for lower income brackets, and safeguarded reproductive rights in the wake of Roe v. Wade's repeal. His political strength and communicative prowess are evident, which makes promising must-see TV for his upcoming debate with J.D. Vance on October 1st.
In choosing Walz, Harris has not only made a strategic decision but also sent a powerful message: the Democrats are ready to embrace bold leadership and address the concerns of their base. Walz’s track record and charismatic presence offer a refreshing contrast to the political status quo, potentially reinvigorating the party and its supporters.
I firmly believe Tim Walz will be the next Vice President of the United States. His selection is more than just a strategic move; it’s hopefully a commitment to a vision of leadership that is both principled and pragmatic. Walz is not just a candidate; he’s a game-changer.

💿 Chart-Toppers: Sugar Honey Iced Tea x Latto
ALL HITS, NO SKIPS!
Latto's third studio album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, has officially dropped and it’s on repeat in my headphones! Drawing deep inspiration from Southern rap, Latto pays homage to her roots while collaborating with heavyweights like Coco Jones, Flo Milli, Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, Ciara, and more. And as a North Carolina boy, from start to finish the album just really worked for me.
Sugar Honey Iced Tea stands out as a cohesive and thoughtfully crafted album. Latto delivers clear, identifiable themes and captivating stories throughout. In an era where many artists focus more on singles than on creating a meaningful tracklist, Latto’s dedication to the album format is refreshing and impressive.
And it gets even better—Latto is hitting the road with a 22-city tour across North America, and I might need to be in the audience shaking ass. Get into Sugar Honey Iced Tea and catch Latto live if you can!
🗳️ Shadow Politics: Trump and the Continued Fall of X
On Monday, Elon Musk talked to Donald Trump on X (formerly Twitter)… and it was weird. After a prolonged technical delay—Musk claimed it was a DDOS attack with no evidence—Musk and Trump engaged in a rambling interview that was the epitome of two dumb bitches telling each other “exactly.”
During the conversation, Musk showered Trump with praise, calling him “courageous under fire” for an awkward 20 minutes before they meandered through topics they broadly agreed on, such as their view of undocumented immigrants and vague discussions about the causes of inflation. The interview showcased an alarming lack of critical engagement and emphasized X’s shift towards embracing right-wing politics.
Since Musk’s takeover, X has moved away from its previous political neutrality, becoming a platform that amplifies right-wing voices. The feed is now filled with anti-Democratic posts, offensive slurs, and right-wing bigotry, even for users who don’t follow those accounts.
Musk often uses X to push his political views, sharing memes and posts from right-wing commentators on hot-button issues like transgender rights, immigration, and crime. His recent controversy includes posting a deepfake video of Kamala Harris, defended as a parody but not labeled as fake.
This latest spectacle underscores X’s new role as an echo chamber for right-wing rhetoric and highlights Musk’s ongoing influence in shaping the platform’s political landscape.
👺 Behind the Mask
Wearing: Betty One Pearl Necklace. I can almost never step out of the house without a necklace on and a few rings—without them the outfit just doesn’t feel complete. And my current go to is a single freshwater pearl on a gold coin chain from She’s Unique, a charming boutique in Alexandria, VA.
Watching: Big Brother 26. Every year, I swear I’m done with the show, but somehow, it pulls me back in—and honestly I’m thankful they did. This season is on a roll—mostly due to two houseguests Angela and Tucker, thank you for your service. If the first four weeks are any indication, we’re in for a thrilling ride ahead.
Playing: Marvel Snap. I’m notorious for downloading games and quickly losing interest, but Marvel Snap has been a delightful exception. Whether it’s my love for Marvel or the engaging strategic gameplay, this simple card game has managed to hold my attention.
Doing: Snapping pics on Lapse. I’m the worst at taking photos and posting them, but Lapse has been a game changer. It lets you snap a few quick shots and then wait for them to develop, no getting bogged down with making sure you got the perfect picture. It’s a fantastic way to capture moments and share them with friends without worrying about perfect shots or captions.
